No historical tour would be complete without a visit to the Museo del Oro, the Gold Museum. Reopened in 2009 with a striking new scenography, this unique museum welcomes 500,000 visitors a year. Admire thousands of gold objects finely worked by pre-Columbian civilizations and discover the importance of this precious metal in their rituals and beliefs, the reason why the Spanish conquistadors wanted to seize Colombian gold, giving birth to the famous myth of “El Dorado” in 1536.

Musée Botero

Historical monuments and sites

Our heritage tour will also take you through the famous squares and monuments of Bogotá’s history. Plaza Bolívar, the very heart of government power, dominated by the Primada Cathedral, a religious building, the most emblematic in the country, built in 1565 and twice destroyed by earthquakes, next to the Presidential Palace and the National Capitol.
